Populate the balance sheet quickly and easily by importing a balance sheet in the Family Courts format in either Word or Excel. This is a great option if your new to FamilyProperty and have some existing matters that you'd like to populate quickly. The steps below show you how to create your matter and then import a balance sheet.
1. Open the matter in Smokeball and click on the FamilyProperty button.
2. Choose the matter type and select 'Use the dashboard'.
3. This will open the dashboard within FamilyProperty and you will have a blank working balance sheet (shown below). Click on the 'Balance sheets' drop down.

4. Click on the option 'Import a balance sheet'

5. Download our templates if needed to ensure your balance sheet is in the correct format. In point 1, determine which column your client's values are in; Applicant or Respondent. In this example, the client's values are in the Applicant column so this radio button is selected. In point 2, indicate how the ownership is identified in your balance sheet. In this example, the client is a 'W' and the other party is a 'H'. In point 3, attach your file.

6. Your items will now be listed for your to review. Use the 'trash' icon on the right to remove any. All items will be listed with type as 'Other'. Simply change this to the correct type eg. Family home, vehicle, bank account etc.

7. Click Import and your balance sheet will now be populated.

Now that your balance sheet is populated, you can invite the client to start uploading disclosure documents through their portal. Each item will be listed along with recommended tasks for the client to work through. To do this, click on the 'Disclosure' Tab, then 'Client Portal'. Enter their details and click 'Invite'
